Description

5 young boys and Ivan were Playing marbles, Semik and I watched. To start the game you throw a marble at a mark on the ground and the closest to the mark gets to go first; anyone who throws beyond the line will go last. You throw your marbles and get a point for either throwing your marble in the hole, or hitting another player's marble. Your turn ends when you throw and miss the hole or another marble. When you reach 11 points (or maybe if you reach 11 points then hit the other players so they're all out) you win the game. The marbles were owned by one boy, but shared out for the game.

Interpretation

Play is not very competitive, I can imagine our kids arguing and whining a lot but that doesn't happen. People regurlarly bat marbles around, move them, get in the way etc and that seems fine. If a marble hits your foot you can chuck it roughly in the direction it was going for instance - precision isn't too important.
