Description
During Food interviews second round Silas started talking about the different Food tambus. I cut it out and put it here for further study.
Follow up questions were asked in Food tambu interviews
The tambus about people dying may all have to do with the pig eating contaminated (sick inlaw's) body fluids
Interpretation
It seems there are the following tambus:
- Pig eats my wife's kus or afterbirth, my brother's can't eat the pig (David counts as a brother to Silas somehow)
- Tambu meri dies and pig digs in grave, can't eat the pig (just the tambu or everyone?)
- Tambu meri looks after a pig and dies, can't eat that pig
- Women stepping over food/buai means men can't eat it (women can)
- If parents in law die and a pig digs at their grave or under their house, can't eat it
- Meri bilong cousin brata dies, can't eat pig
- daka by the side of the house - tambu can't eat (if the tambu dies?)
Breaking a tambu causes sickness - sotwin
