Description
Ulumo had seen Torokum eat with us in the last month and he felt he needed to as well. Kavaluku had given us a chicken and said some words to us as he presented the food. Early in the morning the Kokoma community started to prepare food and they presented it to us with some words.
We have seen Wanbel kaikais for:
Us moving into the village
Our houses being finished
To clear up misunderstandings
Variation
Various wanbel kaikais were organised for us as we moved in. When Lendi broke her leg and the Pusilai baby fell into the fire wanbel kaikais were quickly arranged and the impression was given that the hevi happened because the kaikai hadn't been held earlier.
Interpretation
Wanbel kaikais have a great importance to the Kovol people. They seem to do them to cause good things to happen and to ward off evil.
